Simulate third-party bodily injury claim payouts between upstream project owners/contractors and downstream subcontractors with and without CG 20 01 endorsements attached.
Under ISO Endorsement CG 20 01 04 13, third-party claim priority between a subcontractor and an upstream general contractor (GC) is governed by:Subcontractor Policy Pays 100% of Claim (up to limit) → GC Policy Contributes $0
ISO endorsement CG 20 01 04 13 amends Section IV Condition 4 (Other Insurance) of the standard commercial general liability policy. When a $1,000,000 jobsite injury claim occurs involving an additional insured general contractor, an active CG 20 01 endorsement forces the subcontractor's carrier to absorb the initial $1,000,000 payment in full with $0 contribution from the GC. If CG 20 01 is omitted, standard other insurance conditions enforce equal shares contribution, forcing the GC's policy to pay $500,000.
100% Upstream Protection: Subcontractor Policy Absorbs Full Claim
Under ISO Form CG 20 01, the subcontractor's carrier pays the first $1,000,000. The General Contractor's policy pays $0, preserving their loss experience.
